Bard Press is publishing one book in 2022.
And with today being Twosday (2/22/22), I couldn’t think of a better day to share the news.
Our 2022 book is…
When Everyone Leads: How The Toughest Challenges Get Seen and Solved by Ed O’Malley and Julia Fabris McBride.
We describe the book by saying:
This book is not about leadership,
(at least in the way we normally think about it).
Leadership is not about position, or authority.
It’s not about big speeches or grand visions.
Leadership is engaging others to solve daunting challenges. Those challenges appear in our professional lives, in our communities, our families—and they seem unsolvable, beyond our ability to see what needs to be done or outside our capacity to make the changes needed.
They are not.
Because, leadership is an activity—small actions taken in moments of opportunity. And as you start to look around, you can begin to see more of those moments, seize the opportunity in those moments. Most importantly, you can help others see those opportunities too.
That’s why everyone can lead and the real power to solve our most important challenges is When Everyone Leads.
The authors are amazing…
Ed and Julia serve as the president and vice-president of the Kansas Leadership Center. Founded in 2007, KLC has worked with hundreds of organizations in a broad range of areas including education, healthcare, religion, non-profit, business, and government. Over 15,000 people have participated in their programs, with individuals from nearly every state in the U.S. and 61 countries around the world.
What makes their work so important right now…
When Everyone Leads describes an approach to leadership that helps organizations and communities around the world make progress on their toughest challenges. Tough challenges lack clear solutions. Authority doesn’t have the power needed to bring real change, so too often, they enact quick fixes that make the challenges worse. Progress is made when a group, made of expected and unexpected members, all exercise leadership through the activities of engaging one another. The book describes those activities in detail and the real progress that can be made When Everyone Leads.
We’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks about the book. We’ll also be writing about the process we use at Bard Press to make great books.
When Everyone Leads will be released on August 30th. We are taking pre-orders now.
