In June, I wrote a post on my personal blog about the underrepresentation of Black authors in the world of business books. My main points were:
- Do you own a business book written by a Black author?
- Opportunity through expertise and popularity creates the platform for successful books. With only four black CEOs in the Fortune 500, we might use that as a proxy for why we see so few Black business book authors.
- The 100 Best Business Books of All Time, a book I co-wrote in 2009, has no Black authors.
At the time, I suggested four books: The Power of Broke by Daymond John, Starting Finishing by Charlie Gilkey, It’s About Damn Time by Arlan Hamilton, and Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins.
Today I want to suggest three more titles for business books you could read by Black authors.
I recorded this back in June and finally got around to posting the video today. The video summarizes my post and offers the additional recommendations.
I hope you check the video out and support all of these authors with your money and your attention.
